Following the departure of French and European special forces from Mali, President Mohamed Bazoum has indicated that Niger will welcome them.
According to the president, the forces will be especially welcomed in Takuba, and the special forces will respond to the threat posed by terrorist groups.
The military will secure the West African state’s border. Due to the February coup, France, its European allies, and Canada announced that they would withdraw their soldiers from Mali. The counter-terrorism military operation base will be relocated to Niger. The exercise could take four to six months.
Mali ordered the French troops and their allies to leave the West African nation which is bracing itself for a new beginning under the leadership of Col Assimi Goita while Niger feels insecure from terrorist groups hence the call to French and it’s allies to help guard the country from possible terrorist attacks.
