Zambia -Rwanda in MoU Agreements

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Mutual Administrative Assistance.

The MoU between the two Authorities is intended to serve common interests and contribute to the modernization of processes, legal frameworks, information technology and human capital development for efficient and effective execution of each Authority’s mandate.

Speaking after the signing of the MoU in Livingstone, ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda said ZRA considers RRA a good benchmarking Authority in the modernization of ta administration processes for improving tax compliance.

Mr. Banda cited the Electronic Single Window as a reform that was implemented by the Government of Zambia as a reform that Rwanda contributed assistance.

The MoU signing was witnessed by Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia and His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.

Mr. Banda said the MoU is a result of the desire to strengthen the capacity of the Authorities through the sharing of relevant information, experience and initiatives and the development of a well-structured framework for cooperation.

The two Heads of States also visited the Kazungula Bridge and One Stop Border Post (OSBP).

Mr. George Manyele, Road Development Agency (RDA) Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Dingani Banda, ZRA Commissioner General made a presentation on the Kazungula Bridge and OSBP implementation, respectively.

The Heads of States later planted two Tamarind trees named HH and PK with a request to have the trees taken care of by ZRA.
