Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has warned of dire consequences to anyone who spreads rumours that the late speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya was killed by the state. He dismissed the claims as cheap politics by politicians.
Museveni said this on Friday during the election of the new Speaker of Parliament Anita Among at Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala.
He said, “we are going to go for them because I have heard some people say some people killed Oulanya, the police will come and ask you to give them some information because Oulanya did not die in the private hospital”.
The former speaker’s father Nathan Okori said that his son informed him before he died that he was poisoned. Ugandans through social media are demanding the government to announce publicly what killer the speaker.
The news announcing the death of the former speaker in Seattle US was through Museveni’s Twitter handle last Sunday.
