Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son, who is the commander of the armed forces, has announced his retirement from the army after nearly three decades of service.
Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba posted the news on Twitter: “After 28 years of service in my glorious military, the greatest military in the world, I am happy to announce my retirement.” This comes a day after he announced that he had achieved what diplomats had failed to do by helping to normalize Uganda-Rwanda relations, leading to the full reopening of Rwanda’s borders.
What do you make of Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s retirement at the age of 47?
