With the election behind us and the President-Elect declaring a New Dawn is upon us. It is worthy noting that it took the sixth time luck for President-Elect Hakainde Hichilema took finally oust the Sixth President from office and go to State House.

Zambia has enjoyed peaceful transition of power since 1991when there has been a change of government. We don’t need to take anything for grant and expect that Constitutional Provisions will be followed by every individual holding on to the instruments of power.
Before 2021, Both Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Bwezani Banda graciously gave up the instruments of power to people the electorates have given the mandate to hold the instruments of power. Zambians and others world over still appreciate the gesture that these to Honourable men performed. Both never anticipated losing power but however, sweet power is, the persuasion to hold to it was quickly overcome and the general public was treated to a smooth and peaceful transition of power.
Fast forward to 2021, Incumbent President Edgar Chagwa Lungu never anticipated losing to his long time rival of the United Party for National Development Hakainde Hichilema. He expected to overwhelmingly beat his rival for the third time alas it was not to be. The people instead sided with the Opposition leader and gave him a resounding victory. To Lungu’s dismay, him and his party have relinquished the stranglehold on power. President Lungu has clearly shamed the doomsayers who highly questioned his democratic position on matters of Democratic concern.
Against this background, it is important to appreciate the magnanimity of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu by conceding defeat. He categorically indicated to the people of Zambia and future politicians that the will of the people and that Zambia is more important than any individual regardless of your standing in society. This should be commended and it should serve as lesson to future Presidents that, once your time has come to an end at the helm of Power, graciously accept defeat and let the country move on.
Based on his action of accepting the outcome of the elections, Edgar Chagwa Lungu will become a better presidential counselor to the Incoming President and future Presidents of Zambia and other African countries. It is for this reason that President Edgar Chagwa Lungu should become an Ambassador of Democratic Transition for Zambia and other African countries.
Edgar Chagwa Lungu your actions will forever be appreciated and remembered for ensuring that Zambia continues to be a beacon of Peace .
